"Making clay miniatures and sculptures is one of the hobbies that I could never get enough of. I love all crafts in general... Making something handmade is relaxing and fun at the same time!
Because of that, I decided to start a little business. Etsy seemed like the best place to start out. And so far this shop stuff has been going great!
This will be a load of help even later in life, when I have to pay for studies, rent and so on. Not only is crafting fun, it also puts some money in my pocket! And well, let's be honest here, who doesn't like that"

Is this your only job? Yes, because I'm only 17 years old and I still go to school.
When did you realize you had this talent? About two years ago I started working with clay, loved it, and since then I've been improving :)
Where do you find your inspiration? Other artists, mostly on deviantArt. I really admire some of their work, decided to try my own afterwards.
Who has been the most supportive of your work? My mom :)
What is one thing you would like to accomplish that you haven't yet? To hit 100 sales!




What are your other hobbies? Music, going our with friends, movies. Nothing too special. 
What are your words to live by or favorite quote? Practice makes perfect!
Where is the farthest you have traveled? Bulgaria, I think? But I was 5 years old then, barely remember anything.

When did you start your shop? I actually started playing with clay in fall 2010 but got busy with work so I opened my online shop on Etsy just for fun in November 2011


Is this your only job? I currently work full-time as a Critical Care RN in the Neuroscience ICU taking care of the brain and the spinal cord. I really love my job but I just can't imagine myself just doing what I do so I started making clay jewelry and in my spare time I also like to take pictures with my DSLR. I'm still learning to use my camera!

When did you realize you had this talent? I've always paid attention to details but never realized that I had this talent until I found some clay in my house that had been sitting for at least a year. Just out of curiosity, I tried to make something out of it. Really enjoyed it and never stopped since then! I really like clay because you're not limited on what you can do with it!

Where do you find your inspiration? I am constantly brainstorming everyday! I find inspiration on everything I see. Magazines, television, seasons, nature, and anything cute!

Who has been the most supportive of your work? I come from a very talented family but growing up I felt like I was the least talented! I can't draw or paint! So when I told my family that I started a new hobby that involves making little clay jewelry, they were so excited! It motivates me to create more beautiful little things!


What is one thing you would like to accomplish that you haven't yet? I've always wanted to participate in a craft fair. I've researched it but when I see the applications and the pictures of the other artists' creations, I get so intimidated! I'm still new to this and still learning!

What are your words to live by or favorite quote? Life is short. Live your life and enjoy it according to what makes you happy as long as you're not hurting anybody. Take the time to enjoy the little things like smell the flowers and spend time with your loved ones. Tell them you love them. You never know when your time ends.

Where do you find your inspiration? Animals, of course! I get lost in all of the adorable animal photos on the internet. I'm also inspired by my friends and family.

Who has been the most supportive of your work? My boyfriend. He's so supportive of my endeavors and is ALWAYS there for me. But I've really had great support from a lot of different places and I'm so thankful to each and every person who has supported my work!

When did you start your shop? I originally started my shop back in 2006, then named ALDDesigns, where I mainly sold my lampworked glass beads and some jewelry. I became unable to still create glass beads due to some health issues and switched to working with clay. Recently after a move across the state and several other life-changing events I decided to change the name of my shop to StudioBytheForest.

Is this your only job? This is my only paying job, though I'm a stay-at-home Mom to 4 children, so I keep pretty busy! I use my shop income to help with family expenses and to pay for supplies.

When did you realize you had this talent? My Mom tells tales of me trying to sculpt with any remotely malleable material, be it mashed potatoes, mud, or play-doh when I was less than a year old. Though most of my "pieces" resembled snowmen and not the animals I was trying to make.

Where do you find your inspiration? I find my greatest inspirations in the animals that visit my yard, the leaves and acorns that fall from my trees, and from taking long hikes through the forest nearby.

Who has been the most supportive of your work? My husband and my parents have been very supportive of me. They have made sure I've had the equipment and supplies I've needed. My husband bought me a new large kiln last year for Valentines Day and he and my Dad wired it for me. My Mom is always
