Jewelry Storage Revisited...Again!

DIY All-in-One Jewelry Cabinet. This is the deluxe version, but you could simplify it by getting a shadow box (using a coupon!) or drawer (as was suggested). I love that this is an all-in-one jewelry storage station that is really like wall art. Extremely thorough tutorial from Sew Dang Cute Crafts here.

Shop Name: Eline S.

What you like to go by:
My mother and dad gave me the name Eline.

When did you start your shop? I'm amazed by the Etsy world since may 2011 but I opened my Etsy shop on 22 Aug 2011.

Is this your only job? I'm a fulltime student in Tourism and recreation management in my daily life. Making jewelry and bookmarks is what i like to do with my whole heart in my free time.

When did you realize you had this talent? I taught myself to make jewelry in 2010. Now I've done some courses (e.g. glass fusing,...) and learned a lot from other people to make my jewelry worth while. As I am a student myself I don't like overpriced items, so i do my best to keep them as low as possible. I like to try out different things and techniques.

Where do you find your inspiration? I love searching for more projects and inspiration on blogs and on Etsy. I also like to go to flee markets and secondhand stores. Sometimes a simple old curtain fabric can give me so much inspiration to start with new things.

Who has been the most supportive of your work? Definitely my boyfriend, Geert, who is also very creative. And my friends who are always there to give their opinion. First I've started with a Facebook page and the number of fans grew every day. I am still wondered that so many people like what I do. I really would like to thank them as well for supporting me.

What is one thing you would like to accomplish that you haven't yet?
If i could chose i would love to have my own atelier instead of a kitchen table to work on.
Since a few weeks i also got the feeling my works are getting in one style. I would like to have a style so people can say 'Waw, is that a Eline S. item you're wearing?'.

What are your words to live by or favorite quote?

Enjoy life every day because it can end so quickly.

'Tis the Season

I guess I was busier than expected during the holidays. I thought I would be able to keep up with everything but I've been slacking. So the last week or so I have been getting on myself to get my act together and get back to work. It was a nice little vacation while it lasted, but I feel a responsibility to keep this website going and keep my stored updated with new products. Mostly because it's something I very much enjoy doing as a hobby and partly because it has turned into an investment that I don't want to see go to waste.
So I put in a jewelry order yesterday and went to pick it up today. I have about 60 new and gorgeous rings that are about to go up in the shop over the next couple of days. I also made two new necklaces one of which I was told looks like Betsey Johnson. I had never heard of this brand and was not familiar with it, that is how out of the loop I am. How much I don't pay attention to pop culture and the like. I prefer it this way. I prefer to make jewelry out of my own creativeness, instead of copy catting what is in, what's in magazines or what celebrities are wearing like so many other shops on etsy. When you wear one of my items you are wearing a piece of me, a piece of my imagination. Isn't that what art is supposed to be about? Conveying an idea that is bottled up inside your body in order to share it with others in a material form?
That has always been my interpretation of it...

Thanks for taking the time to read this update. I should have some new items and new featured artist articles for you soon.
