Jewelry Storage Ideas 2016

Stained and waxed wood necklace display with 23 hooks. 12" long by 2" tall (including hooks).

"Turn your jewelry collection into an artful jewelry display with our wall-mounted wood organizers! Your baubles will become a lovely ever-changing bohemian work of art. A driftwood jewelry holder is a dynamic form of storage for your necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings in your home/bedroom. Accessories become boho decor and out of the way organization. A great gift for her or him, young or old. Or better yet, a great gift for you! "

"I also set up my new jewelry rack I bought from an Etsy shop (Fine Art Holders.) I was so impressed with the outcome! You can talk to the creators and have them customize it anyway you’d like. They’re quick to respond"

"After making the jewelry display I still had a few other pieces of milk glass left over so I paired them with my lamp and put them all together on the opposite side of the dresser. My 50 cent garage sale bird certainly has the spotlight!"

"To create the perfect place to store the jewelry I use most often!"

"Driftwood is a beautiful and unique material. And the best part is that each and every piece is produced and shaped by nature. They're a lot like snowflakes in that way. But unlike snowflakes, they have a much longer shelf life and far more uses."

"There are many different ways in which you can organize and display your jewelry. Clever jewelry storage and display is always a great way to bring a little personality to your space. Take a look at these Creative Jewelry Storage & Display Ideas that will make finding your favorite pieces super easy. Keep your jewelry organized and never lose track of it."

"A unique and beautiful organizational piece that is sure to bring color and style to any space.
This painted hook board is a great way to display your jewelry, scarfs, or hang anything you want to show off. Makes a beautiful headband holder for a nursery! The variety of classic knobs and hooks create an elegant look in the various colors and shapes. "

"Playing cards for jewelry display."

An Ode to Retail

Working in retail isn't all it's cut out to be. Who am I kidding? It's not cut out to BE anything. It sucks. After 3.5 hours of sleep because I closed last night, I get to wake up early and go back. Just to walk around on my hands and knees for 9 bucks an hour. Some of those shelves are pretty low you know.

I just realized that the planner I bought has a pattern that looks like flying ejaculating dicks all over it. Terrific.

Here's to not giving a fuck today due to lack of sleep. Rolling out of bed, wearing my glasses to work, not wearing any makeup. I still feel full from the 2 fish tacos I ate at 1 am and I am sure they are still half digested sticking to my guts. Here's to chugging coffee so the caffeine hits you harder, in order to wash away the sleepy memory of how good that moment of sleep felt right before your alarm went off. The coffee I cannot drink black anymore with out an antacid because lets face it, I'm getting old and things like heart burn are a problem.

On days like today I need to remind myself why I do this. Is it the measly discount, the awesome per hour wage or the hope to one day have health insurance again. The benefits are unreal. Maybe I could squeeze in just a few doctors visits before I make my leave from retail and return to the restaurant industry because "that's where the money is".

To all those working in retail, up early with me this morning, I wish you luck during this holiday season. We are the ones that get shit on and take the heat. Once the huge and wealthy company you work for has used and abused you to be the face of their brand for the season, they will eat you up and spit you out back into the unemployment line. It is to you that I wish Good Luck. A Merry Christmas followed by sleeping in and feeling worthless. The stress of the holidays followed by the stress of having to find a new job.

It's okay though, because they told you it was seasonal.
Even though, you were just getting comfortable.
Even though, you gained recognition for a job well done.

The company no longer needs you and now you and your family must learn to live to go without. Without all the benefits of what 9 dollars an hour will bring.

What a joke.

Christmas is Upon Us! And a StarWars Birthday Party!

Google
Christmas is upon us! Are you ready? Have you completed all your wrapping, shopping and baking? I am proud to say that I am done! My shopping was far from stress free but I suppose that is my own fault for procrastinating this year yet again. I keep telling myself that I will start early but I never really do! I haven't even sent out my Christmas cards yet! Although they are stamped and ready to go.

Here is a Holiday tip to save you a head ache for next year though! Each time I received a Christmas card in the mail I saved the envelope, which has the return address on it. I put them in a safe place so that next year, when I go to send out Christmas cards (hopefully earlier than this!) next year I will have everyone's addresses that I need to send them out too.

I also thought about keeping a Christmas notebook. Writing down the names of friends and family I usually purchase or make gifts for and making notes throughout the year each time I see them. Notes will consist of conversations, likes/dislikes etc to make the gift giving process the next year just that much easier.

In other news my boyfriend of 6 years had his 27th birthday on the 18th. I decided to throw him a Star Wars birthday party with the help of Pinterest.

Needless to say he was very pleased with the decorations. I wish I had thought about using Pinterest help me decorate for Christmas as well but I guess I will have to save that for next year too!

I hope everyone has a very happy holiday!

Shop Name: Polu Moana
What you like to go by: Erika
When did you start your shop? November 2011
Is this your only job? At the moment yes (even though I have yet to sell anything). I plan to go to graduate school next Fall, if all goes well.
When did you realize you had this talent? This certain talent for jewelry making has been with me for a while. I am very creative and have expressed myself though drawing, painting, fabricating clothes, knitting, and all other sorts of craftiness.
Where do you find your inspiration? Living on Oahu, surrounded by shoreline has definitely been wonderful. Driving to my "spots" with anticipation of what I might find that day is great. Coming home with materials I found, by wading and snorkeling in tide pools, also one of my favorite things to do, and crafting them into wearable form is relaxing.
Who has been the most supportive of your work? My mom, she wants this piece and that piece...."and remember, Christmas is coming up."
What is one thing you would like to accomplish that you haven't yet? Make my first sale! Haha. In seriousness, I would like to continue to improve my craft and create a more diverse collection, never stop exploring new possibilities.
What are your words to live by or favorite quote?
More info
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
Through the unknown, unremembered gate
When the last of earth left to discover
Is that which was the beginning;
At the source of the longest river
The voice of the hidden waterfall
And the children in the apple-tree
Not known, because not looked for
But heard, half-heard, in the stillness
Between two waves of the sea.
