What you like to go by: Gesine
When did you start your shop? I have had my shop since June 2010. I just had my 100th sale a few weeks ago.
Is this your only job? No, I work full time in animation, designing and directing for animated commercials. My etsy store is just a side line that I do for fun- a place where I am not restricted by the demands of commercial art. Of course my animation background can be seen in the sculptures in my store- knowing how to create strong facial expressions, telling simple stories through the sculptures.
I love the idea that the creatures I sell on Etsy are sitting on shelves and mantle pieces in houses all over the world now. That's the biggest kick I get out of having an Etsy store.
When did you realize you had this talent? I pretty much always knew I wanted to do art.
Where do you find your inspiration? I don't really go looking for inspiration. I always have way more ideas than I can ever find the time to do. Often I wake up in the morning with an idea that I just have to turn into reality! I do keep up to date on what is happening in animation, illustration and the art world as much as possible and there are many things that I love out there. But in the end everything in my work comes out of that big filing cabinet that is my brain.
Who has been the most supportive of your work? Well everybody, starting with my childhood friend's mum, who would frame our drawings and take them seriously when we were 7. My parents who let me go to art school. Everybody I met along the way who encouraged me to do this art thing.
What is one thing you would like to accomplish that you haven't yet? Oh, there are many things: I would like to publish a children's book. I would like to make a really big outdoor sculpture out of concrete . I would like to have one of my critters mass produced and distributed. I would like to create an animated TV show. The list goes on. But for all the things that I'm still dreaming of doing, there are so many things that I have already accomplished and that I am proud of.

Excerpt From Profile:
Hey, I was on TV! Oregon Public Broadcasting made a short film about me. Watch it online here.
Other interesting facts about me:
I have been an animation professional for the past 18 years and have been drawing and sculpting squiggly creatures for as long as I remember.
I was born in Germany, studied fine art at Kunstakademie Stuttgart and went on to earn an MA in animation at the Royal College of Art in London.
My style has shaped the look of many advertising campaigns and chances are good that you have seen my work in print and on television. While lending my design sense to numerous ad campaigns, I have also always pursued more personal art projects including short films, sculptures and paintings, and have exhibited my work in galleries in Oregon and California.
You can find more of my work here.
