When did you start your shop?
June 2011

Is this your only job?
I (Macy) quit my short-lived job as a part-time grocery cashier to stay home and run this shop. It makes me so happy to pour everything I have into this creative outlet. We both dream of someday making art and furniture from home for a living. Right now, Joe works full time as a commercial plumber, using the monotonous hours spent digging ditches and working under buildings to come up with creative ideas. Every evening and most weekends, we work together on making these ideas come to life. I always seem to have paint up to my elbows these days. ;)

When did you realize you had this talent?
We're a 20-something couple who love brainstorming and creating together. We've joined our talents and the result is this little shop full of whimsy and fun. It's a great excuse for date night. ;) We've both been creating things since we were kids.

Where do you find your inspiration?
The idea for a metal flower was born on our 2nd wedding anniversary. Joe was working as a welder at the time, and we had no money for gifts. He took scrap metal from the trash at work and welded them together into a black rose. It was the perfect blend of grunge and sweetness, and the sweetest gift I've ever received. (We recently celebrated our 6th anniversary!)

Who has been the most supportive of your work?
Our families and friends have been extremely supportive!

What is one thing you would like to accomplish that you haven't yet?
We'd like to reach 500 sales in our shop!

What are your other hobbies?
I (Macy) love painting, drawing comics, photographing my pets, and playing the piano. Joe enjoys making medieval weaponry, playing guitar, video games (Skyrim and Call of Duty), typing furiously on his typewriter, and sketching new ideas.

What are your words to live by or favorite quote?
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -- Mark Twain

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." -Howard Thurman

Where is the farthest you have traveled?
I (Macy) have been to the Dominican Republic, and I'm not sure that Joe has ever been out of the states. Joe is part Greek, and we are saving our pennies (quite literally) to go explore Greece together someday.

When did you start your shop? about 3 years ago.

Is this your only job?

Yes! Most recently I turned my dream of working full time from home into a reality! Running my sewing business on a full time basis is a big sense of achievement to me; I love being able to design and create for the world to see!

When did you realize you had this talent?

My mother bought me a sewing machine for Christmas one year and along with it came some sewing lessons. I never knew I has such talent in creating. Once I started sewing I just could not stop! I am an actor as well, I suppose I should have known all along that my creativity ran in many different directions!

Where do you find your inspiration?
I have always had a flair for the Dramatic; everything I see is an inspiration to me: Pen, Paper, a hanger, Jars, fabric, something new to create if you will.

I love the art of up-cycling and creating something new out of something old and /or used. I cannot bear to throw away anything that looks like it could be created into something different and new. I also love fabric from other countries, the rich color, the history behind the fabric to me is very fascinating. I want my creations to be unique, dramatic and unusual, much like my personality! I recently was asked to be in my first fashion show for " Portland Raw Artists"! This is a big event that features Fashion designers, Musicians, Filmmakers, Makeup Artists, Photographers and more; Visit my personal page to learn more and support me reach my goal by buying a ticket. Even if you do not live in Portland you will be supporting the arts in a major way! : www.rawartists.org/dramatiquedesigns

Who has been the most supportive of your work?

My Parents and my husband My mom helped me to realize what talent I had and is constantly supporting and helping me with my endeavors to build my business, my father and I are both actors/directors so he really inspired me to let loose with my creative talent. My husband has a sound and logical business sense and really has been helpful in the area of marketing and the logic behind building a business. He also is the funniest man I know and constantly helping me to come up with unique and wonderful names for my products.

What is one thing you would like to accomplish that you haven't yet?

I would love to design wedding gowns. I have a very big eye for fashion and am always day dreaming about what unique dresses i could up-cycle and make into a glorious wedding dress. I am always veering from the norm in fashion and would love to create a line that really is unlike any you see in today's high fashion magazines.

What are your other hobbies?

I am a graduate of Portland Actors Conservatory acting program and love theater, I am a big movie fanatic, I love going to concerts, riding on roller-coasters, and reading, I am such a nerd!

What are your words to live by or favorite quote?

" “Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.” Robert A. Heinlein

Where is the farthest you have traveled?

I am lucky to have traveled to many places with my mother. I've been to India, Egypt, Indonesia, Turkey and Fiji!
