New Items in the works!

I've been a busy bee. I took some time off from work to get settled in the new house but instead I started working on some new items! What could I do? I just missed crafting so much I couldn't help myself! Here are some of my new items that have been listed or will be listed by tomorrow!

These are some design your own bracelets that I came up with!
The customer gets to choose the color of the suede cord as well as which charm they would like.
Here is an example of what the bracelet looks when it is on.

The majority of what I made are necklaces with the exception of the design your own leather wrap charm bracelet and these brass beauties. I just love the little peace sign!
Thanks for checking out my new items!

When did you start your shop? I opened this shop on May 20, 2010. I've been around Etsy for a few years, though. I also have two other shops I started this year - absolutetime.etsy.com and kisskissboom.etsy.com.

Is this your only job? Yes and no. I'm also a full time student, which is a job in itself.

When did you realize you had this talent? I'm not sure exactly when the moment was, if there ever was a big epiphany moment. From a very young age I was always thinking out how things worked, how I could make them 'pretty', and combining things in unusual ways. In my pre-teen years, I took a sewing class, sewed my first dress by staying late after class almost everyday, and found a love for sewing. It seems like as the years go on, the more I find to love about all things crafting, and the more I realize I have an awesome talent!

Where do you find your inspiration?  I don't really find inspiration, it tends to find me! I will be in a daydream when, suddenly, I'm thinking about being a child and how much fun coloring is, and then I'm thinking about colorful jewelry, and suddenly my mind wanders to crayon rings! Now I'm creating crayon rings and bracelets! That's how most of my inspiration comes to me, just jumps out when I'm least expecting it to.

Who has been the most supportive of your work?   Everyone I know! [Honestly!] Making art and crafting is so much a part of me that people who support me, also support my work. The biggest surprise, though, came to me a few months ago when I ran into an old boyfriend, who asked how my crafting was coming along. He surprised me by saying, "I always loved that about you, that you are artsy and love to make stuff." Who knew being crafty can also be adorable!!

What is one thing you would like to accomplish that you haven't yet?   There are so many things I still have to accomplish! The first thing, and probably the biggest thing, is graduating from college. It's always been a big dream of mine, I will be the first in my family to do so.

What are your words to live by or favorite quote?  "Don't worry, be happy!"   It's so easy to get caught up in everything that is going 'wrong' and everything that could go wrong. I have to remind myself quite often to just chill out and deal with the issues as they arise, because stressing out isn't going to help. I try to let go of the little things and keep in mind all the happy things in my life.

elements and colors.
Who has been the most supportive of your work? My boyfriend,

friends and family :) Thanks! BTW
What is one thing you would like to accomplish that you haven't yet? To have my own non virtual shop or an "atelier" to teach people what easy, fun and simple creating may be.
What are your words to live by or favorite quote? It is better to regret what you have done that what you never did. We need to take the train when it is stopped in front of us, otherwise we will lose it and you never know when it will pass again!

Shop Name: Lipgloss and Black

What you like to go by: You can call us Sylvia and Samantha or "Syl and Sam" for short.

When did you start your shop? We started our business in 2004 on Livejournal, got a little more serious and sold on eBay for a few years & then opened our Etsy shop in 2008

Is this your only job? Yes! Both of us are working full time trying to grow our business.

More info
When did you realize you had this talent? We both grew up in a creative environment where we found ourselves coloring or crafting as a hobby. Our mom taught us how to alter clothes at a young age & we were interested in getting creative with it. We never saw sewing as a special talent or anything, it was more like learning an important life skill. We both taught ourselves the basics of clothing construction and Samantha actually went to College for Fashion Techniques and Design.

Where do you find your inspiration? We find our inspiration everywhere from magazines to the streets. We love seeing what pop and rock stars wear on stage and try to take small elements from stage outfits to implement into the everyday clothes we make.

More info
Who has been the most supportive of your work? Our customers have been so supportive of us since day one. Even when we have doubts about our skill or creativity, they are there to support us with their words or by buying our pieces. We are always thrilled to find new customers and it's amazing when people tell us they've been following us since we started in 2004!

What is one thing you would like to accomplish that you haven't yet? Although we seem like an old business, we're only in our first year of operating full time. We hope only to succeed as a full time fashion business and to be able to survive by doing what we're passionate about.

What are your words to live by or favorite quote? No specific quotes or anything, we just want girls to wear what makes them feel happy & to know that it isn't too hard to do-it-yourself, sometimes!
