Working in retail isn't all it's cut out to be. Who am I kidding?
It's not cut out to BE anything. It sucks. After 3.5 hours of sleep
because I closed last night, I get to wake up early and go back. Just to
walk around on my hands and knees for 9 bucks an hour. Some of those
shelves are pretty low you know.
I just realized that the planner I bought has a pattern that looks like flying ejaculating dicks all over it. Terrific.
Here's
to not giving a fuck today due to lack of sleep. Rolling out of bed,
wearing my glasses to work, not wearing any makeup. I still feel full
from the 2 fish tacos I ate at 1 am and I am sure they are still half
digested sticking to my guts. Here's to chugging coffee so the caffeine
hits you harder, in order to wash away the sleepy memory of how good that moment of sleep felt right before your alarm went off. The coffee I cannot drink black anymore with out an antacid because lets face it, I'm getting old and things like heart burn are a problem.
On days like today I need to remind myself why I do this. Is it the measly discount, the awesome per hour wage or the hope to one day have health insurance again. The benefits are unreal. Maybe I could squeeze in just a few doctors visits before I make my leave from retail and return to the restaurant industry because "that's where the money is".
To all those working in retail, up early with me this morning, I wish you luck during this holiday season. We are the ones that get shit on and take the heat. Once the huge and wealthy company you work for has used and abused you to be the face of their brand for the season, they will eat you up and spit you out back into the unemployment line. It is to you that I wish Good Luck. A Merry Christmas followed by sleeping in and feeling worthless. The stress of the holidays followed by the stress of having to find a new job.
It's okay though, because they told you it was seasonal.
Even though, you were just getting comfortable.
Even though, you gained recognition for a job well done.
The company no longer needs you and now you and your family must learn to live to go without. Without all the benefits of what 9 dollars an hour will bring.
What a joke.

My Birthday Presents!
Google
So I had a really great birthday this year! It just passed and lasted about 72 hours, first with friends and then with family! I thought I would give you a little picture update of the gifts that I received!
I missed out on a trip to Brazil with my family because I had to work. But my Aunt and my Grandparents brought me back some gifts!
1. Japanese geisha nesting dolls (how friggen cute right?!)
2. Gallo (rooster) dish cloth hanging on my stove
3. Some Brazilian seasoning for cooking
4. Some delicious smelling Brazilian soaps!
5. A Energy Charm Bracelet from Alex and Ani
You may remember this post from last month when my friend Peyton and I went to visit my grandparents and my grandmother made us Expresso! Well she remembered how much I enjoyed it and gave me an expresso maker for my birthday as well as some Brazilian grinds! The picture on the left shows my first Barista skilled cup! It is so yummy!
I am really excited about my new Expresso maker and all my new gifts! What was your favorite birthday present this year?

Christmas is Upon Us! And a StarWars Birthday Party!
Google
Christmas is upon us! Are you ready? Have you completed all your wrapping, shopping and baking? I am proud to say that I am done! My shopping was far from stress free but I suppose that is my own fault for procrastinating this year yet again. I keep telling myself that I will start early but I never really do! I haven't even sent out my Christmas cards yet! Although they are stamped and ready to go.
Here is a Holiday tip to save you a head ache for next year though! Each time I received a Christmas card in the mail I saved the envelope, which has the return address on it. I put them in a safe place so that next year, when I go to send out Christmas cards (hopefully earlier than this!) next year I will have everyone's addresses that I need to send them out too.
I also thought about keeping a Christmas notebook. Writing down the names of friends and family I usually purchase or make gifts for and making notes throughout the year each time I see them. Notes will consist of conversations, likes/dislikes etc to make the gift giving process the next year just that much easier.
In other news my boyfriend of 6 years had his 27th birthday on the 18th. I decided to throw him a Star Wars birthday party with the help of Pinterest.
Needless to say he was very pleased with the decorations. I wish I had thought about using Pinterest help me decorate for Christmas as well but I guess I will have to save that for next year too!
I hope everyone has a very happy holiday!
